From August 7-16, 10 adults from FAC are going to Quito, Ecuador to learn from and serve the local church there. As they prepare to go on this short-term mission trip, we invited them to share what prompted them to say “yes”, what they’re most excited about, and how we can be praying for them.

Summer often brings a slower pace, making it the perfect time to pick up a good book. We asked a few of our pastors here at FAC what they're reading this summer and why these books have captured their attention. Here's what's on their reading lists.

Humility is one of the strangest things to talk about, especially at church. Everyone wants to be humble. But no one wants to admit that they are humble, because that wouldn’t be very humble at all.

We no longer say, “We would never do that.” Because again and again, the places we would never expect are the very places where God chooses to bring renewal. Through your prayers and support, you are also joining Jesus in these unexpected opportunities He continues to open for us.

Joining FAC feels like I’m finally stepping into a calling God has placed on my life since childhood. Through music and worship, we can bridge gaps that sometimes separate us and ultimately, reflect Christ’s heart for His church: every voice, one heart, one people.

Growing up, I was constantly seeking wisdom for my life. I was always observing other's actions and watching the consequences of such actions, with the thought “Is this how I want my life to turn out?” The book of Proverbs was another avenue of gaining wisdom and direction for my life. I didn't just want to hear or read about wisdom; I was adamant about putting it into practice.

The book of Proverbs and I were not friends. But day after day, Proverbs began to shape how I thought about my interaction with my family, my neighbours, former co-workers and the poor.

We get more days. We get to see God’s promise to our family every day in human form. Even through trials, it reminds me that faith carries us through the hardest days and that miracles are still happening every day. Life itself is truly a miracle.
