All of us have found ourselves in uncharted waters with the new realities imposed on us by COVID-19. It’s stretched churches all over Canada as we’ve pivoted to respond to national and provincial restrictions and guidelines numerous times. Congregations and church leaders across our country feel the tension of navigating a wide range of feelings and opinions surrounding vaccination and lockdowns. We all feel the fatigue of this tension.
Month of Prayer for Unity
In response, you’re invited to say “yes” with FAC to an invitation by Rev. Dr. David Hearn, President of The Alliance Canada to pray with approximately 440 other local churches during the month of October for unity:
“We need to make every effort to preserve the unity of the body of Christ. If we simply echo culture by dividing into camps, we will have lost our voice. People are desperate to be in community where they know they’ll be loved and accepted and affirmed. It is our role … to serve the wider community with love and peace, and to model unity amongst individuals with widely varying beliefs and responses to the pandemic … The Alliance holds the core value [that] we do nothing until we pray. And it is with this in mind that we passionately call our leaders and churches to prayer with a focus on unity.”
